Location and Facilities

The El Dorado Gun Club range is located just outside of the town of El Dorado, in the middle of Union Mine Road, off of Hwy 49. The physical address is 5941 Union Mine Road, El Dorado, CA 95623. Some GPS units may not take you on the most direct or correct route. To get to the range, follow these directions.

From the town of El Dorado, take Highway 49 South (directly across from Poor Red’s)

After 1/4 mile, turn left onto Union Mine Road and follow it to the first stop sign.

Turn right to stay on Union Mine Road (directly behind Union Mine High School).

Continue on Union Mine road for 3 miles. We are on the left just past the old dump.

Please check the calendar before you make the trip out. If the range is closed, the gate will be locked and no one will be there.

RIFLE – Open Range Fee: $10.00 (members) / $15.00 (non-members).

• 50 and 100 yard rifle range with 13-position covered bench and chronograph stand

PISTOL/SMALLBORE – Open Range Fee: $10.00 (members) / $15.00 (non-members).

• 25+ yard pistol/small-bore ranges with steel and paper targets

Punch Cards available to members only for Rifle and Pistol/Small-bore range:

• 10-spot card: $85.00 (a $15 savings)
• 5-spot card: $45.00 (a $10 savings)

TRAP – There is no open range fee for trap. Trap rounds are purchased for $5.00 (members), $10.00 (non-members) or $3.00 (all juniors under 18).

• We have three 16-27 yard trap ranges
• Trap range throws singles, doubles and “wobbles”

Basic Rules For Using Our Range:

NO alcoholic beverages or narcotics or anyone under the influence permitted on range premises
ALL firearm actions shall be open at all times when not on the firing line.
Only ONE firearm and ammunition on the firing line in any shooting stall or position.
At all times, muzzles are to be pointed down range or stored in designated locations
INSTANTLY obey commands of the Range Officer or Range Safety officer
Fire only at YOUR designated target
Eye and ear protection shall be worn at all times while in the firing area.
Unattended or unsupervised juveniles are not permitted on Range.
NOTE: Each discipline has specific rules, which are available from the Range Safety Officers.

Parking At The Range:

The range can be busy at times and in order to ensure the safety and convenience of everyone, the board has approved guidelines for parking at the club. Please click here to review the rules for parking. This document clarifies where people can park as well as who has parking priority for the various areas. As a reminder, all members and guests are asked to remain courteous and if an issue arises, alert the RSO on duty.

Transporting Your Firearms at the Rifle/Pistol (Lower) Range:

8.0 Transporting Firearms to and while at the Facility
- 8.1 Firearms must arrive at the facility in accordance with all State of California regulations and established policies of the El Dorado Gun Club (EDGC).
- 8.2 Rifles transported to the EDGC shall be cased and unloaded, with any detachable magazine removed. Any magazines stored in a transport case must be unloaded. Rifles will remain cased upon arriving and will be carried to the range in their transport case. Rifles shall be uncased at a shooting bench with the muzzle pointing down range. Rifles not in active use must be unloaded, and in a rifle rack, on a shooting bench (with muzzle pointed down range) or in a case.
- 8.3 Pistols will be carried to the range unloaded, in their locked transport cases. Any magazines stored in transport case must be unloaded.
- 8.4 Concealed carry permit holders, or law enforcement, may carry their firearm in accordance with the State of California law.
